Suspension Mods
I did a significant amount of research online (that's what I call surfing AFM!) and decided the best way for me to beef up my suspension was to replace some of the stock suspension parts with aftermarket ones:
- Front swaybar/brace
- Rear swaybar
- Lower Control Arms (LCAs)
- Upper Control Arm (UCA)
I installed these in a 9 hour marathon split up over two days. I also got a few new socket sets out of the deal, since I needed deep well sockets in both metric and ASE, and in both 1/2" and 3/8" drive. The UCA still needs to be installed, since it involves dropping the gas tank, and requires a somewhat rare Torx bit.
When I was done, I was amazed that I didn't have any squeaks or pops that indicated that I messed up the install! I took it on a good long ride through Millheim, over Madisonburg Mountain, and Bellefonte, and the difference was very noticeable. The ride is a little louder and rougher, but it is SO worth it!
The car feels more controllable when I'm autocrossing, and now I just have to practice more!
